What’s your reason to rise this January?
I’ve joined RED January 2025 and I’m going to rise by walking 20,000 steps each day during one of the most challenging months of the year.
This is a personal challenge for me in a few ways - I'm proud to be part of the team at Mind Over Mountains, a vital charity working to support those with mental health challenges. All donations help the charity to extend into more areas of the UK, reaching more people who need them.
Like most of us I've faced my own mental health challenges over the years, and sadly know only too well how it feels to be bereaved by suicide.
My 20,000 steps are for those we've lost, but they're also for you - because any one of us could be affected by mental ill health. I want to see us move towards a world in which we actively work towards restoring and sustaining mental fitness in alignment with physical fitness, rather than a world where we only stand up when it's much too late.
I know the power of movement, of nature and of mindfulness! And my fitness efforts, combined with your support, will help RED’s official charity partner, Mind Over Mountains, reach anyone struggling with their mental health to gain the benefits of movement and connection in nature.
